MACBETH~BIG IDEA POST 5/12/14

I think that one of the biggest ideas in Macbeth is trust. Trust is relying on someone, and in Macbeth the "idea" of trust is shown in many ways. Throughout the book trust is an issue with Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The start of the trust issue in this book is when Macbeth finds the witches and they explain to him his prophecy. Macbeth learned from the witches that he was going to be king and he will never be vanquished. Macbeth does anything to get to being king like killing everyone that gets in his way such as Banquo his best friend.
Also Lady Macbeth and Macbeth put their trust in the people that they are making kill for them. Almost every victim of murder that Macbeth kills has trusted Macbeth and Lady Macbeth at one point before they were killed. Also, Scotland puts their trust in their leader and Macbeth does not show the appropriate traits to become king at all. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth invite people to dinner only to kill them later on which shows a type of distrust in them. Trust is a major issue in Macbeth.

Important Quotations

"The love that follows us sometime is our trouble,
Which still we thank as love. Herein I teach you
How you shall bid God 'ild us for your pains
And thank us for your trouble"
This quote is important because I feel that it represents the book as a whole. It explains how love and trouble are different but can be the same. In the book Macbeth goes through the trouble of killing people but it seems as if he loves doing it because it causes trouble. This can be confusing but makes sense at the same time. In this quote Duncan explains how we thank trouble as love sometimes, and how we thank God for our trouble.
"Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell
That summons thee to heaven or hell."
This quote represents the time where Macbeth goes to kill Duncan. This is the first person that Macbeth kills and I feel that at this time, Macbeth is starting to realize what he is about to do. I interpreted this quote as saying "The bell has rung for you to die" because that is what it is saying. We understand that Macbeth is about to kill Duncan because he says that he is about to be summoned to heaven or hell.

My spring break was filled with excitement, adventure, and happiness. During our break, Claudia, Ellie, Kylie and I took a trip to Seaside,Florida for four days. We stayed in Seaside in a two-story house that was right on the beach. It was our paradise. We had a whole floor to ourselves. The house was right inside the town so we either road our bikes or walked everywhere. The weather was so beautiful. It was the perfect temperature, not too hot during the day, and perfectly cool during the night time. We did all sorts of things. Road our bikes around to town and shopped, got snowballs, went on the beach, and enjoyed the time we had together.
Spring Break went by a little faster than I expected it to be. One minute I was on the beach, and then another I was sitting in my room wondering if I had any homework. I believe that on this spring break I wasted the time I had home because now I have to do a social studies project that I forgot about. Not a fun time for me. But overall, my spring break was very good.

If you are in a position of power, you are happy
I believe that this statement is partially true, but partially false. In a way being in a position of power can bring happiness, but power alone can not bring happiness to a person. In society today, the standards for people that are considered more powerful are set very high and it can be very stressful and hard to meet those standards. This kind of stress in a person can never bring happiness. On the other hand, having money and power and being considered in a position in power can bring happiness because of how well one is doing in there lives and how many things the powerful person has. In reality, the one with less power lives a happier, laid back life.

Who we are--our essential character and temperament--is fixed and unchangeable
This statement has always been a question to me. Can who a person is really change? I believe that if a person goes through something tragic, a person can partly change but not fully. Something traumatic in a persons life could change a persons perspective and look on certain types of things. I also believe that a person can never really change his/her character.

The start of my summer...

It starts off with a blast of happiness
The steps to the car can't be that
Far. The excitement rushing through my body
is unexplainable;
I am free from the distraction of school
School.
The word brings back memories of work which makes
me sad.
I wake up the next morning to the sun creeping
through the windows of my brothers room along with
my friends already ready to take a swim.
The first dive of the summer.
The sun was sparkling like a gem on the rim of gleaming
clear blue warm waters.
Tanning and just thinking about what this summer will bring,
memories that I will cherish forever and ever.
Ready for summertime to begin.

Free to be me by Francesca Battistelli

Free to be me by Francesca Battistelli is a song expressing how Francesca feels about people being who they are without worrying what other people think. She uses her words in a way that is fun to listen to, and will actually get peoples attention. "A wars already waged for my destiny" is a line in her song. I feel like this line is very strong and stood out to me because she is saying that she can't figure out who she wants to be until she sees one particular person that helps her through everything and influences her when figuring out who she wants to be in the world. This is a poetic song because it has a meaning and certain sound patterns throughout the lyrics. http://www.metrolyrics.com/free-to-be-me-lyrics-francesca-battistelli.html

This song is sort of like a poem. The speaker in Free to be me is obviously the artist that wrote the song, Francesca Battistelli. Also, the occasion is a time where Francesca is feeling like she dosent know who she is, and just needs a little boost to help her keep going. The audience is anyone around her age that needs inspiration on how to be themselves without worrying what other people think. The purpose is to reach out to the world and make them realize that some people will accept you for who you are, and you need to find those people that make you happy. The subject is acceptance, and the tone is happy and upbeat. In the song, I have noticed assonance in the chorus like; "rips in my jeans" and "pieces together" which are next to each other in the song. I also notice a pattern of Euphony.

Research Paper Feedback Post: 2/2/14

I feel like my research paper is going to be very well thought out and detailed in the final. I have all these ideas in my head ready to put down on a paper. I have put down most of them, but I feel like when I am writing my paper I sometimes go a little overboard with ideas and then just get lost in my head with a bunch of jumbled words. Other than that, I feel like my introduction paragraph is very strong, and I have very reliable and detailed sources that contribute to my paper a lot. Getting started was very difficult for me. Learning how I should start my paper, watching videos on drafting, and reading other example papers was definitely a weakness for me because I took most of my time just learning how I should even start.
One thing that I am unsure about is how I should end my paper. The conclusion paragraph always seems to be the most difficult because you have already said and stated everything about your topic, so there isn't much left to explain. I would like help on citing correctly in my paragraphs. I understand the concept but I feel like I am missing something. Also, I would like help with my sentence structure. Again, I get lost in my head of bunched up words, and sometimes my sentences don't make sense. You will notice this when reading my paper. You will also notice that my quoting structure may be a little off. When reading and looking over my paper, you should focus on the tone and sound of my paper. I want my paper to be interesting, but I feel like it isn't the correct tone.

Documented Work Time 2/2/14

During the three snow days that we had I spent a totally of (3 hours) preparing and working on my research paper. For the rest of the 240 minutes required I read (1 hour) of The Absolutley True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.

Snow Day Free Post! 2/2/14

During the period of time we had off for the so called "snow days" I was not very productive to be honest. I made sure to log in to whipple hill and check into all of my classes, but I was not very responsible with my work. I got everything done, but not until last minute so it was very stressful. What made it worse was that it didn't really snow where I was in Prairieville, it was more sleet and ice everywhere. The first day I was with all of my friends at Claudia's house, so obviously we were not very productive, but the second day I was with Claudia and Ellie and they really pushed me to do my schoolwork because they are always on track with schoolwork so it motivated me to get everything done. Thursday was the most stressful day because I wanted to have school being that I hadn't been in a week, so I really needed hands on help from my teachers.
Other than the stressful homework and the struggle for being on time, I actually had a great time bonding with my friends. We baked food, watched movies, and did our nails. It was all somewhat relaxing to have those days off before we go into a straight week again of school. Also, Claudia, Ellie and I put on warm clothes and tried to make snowballs to throw at each other, but it was all icy so we ended up throwing chunks of ice at each other and singing songs from the new movie Frozen that we all love. We were immature during the snow days, and we had a blast. I am glad I got to spend those few days with my best friends.

Research Paper Post 1/27/14

My research topic is about the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising during the holocaust in Poland. The suffering and hardship inside the ghettos lead up to the desire for and planning of a rebellion for demanding human rights through the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.  I am interested in this topic because I wanted to look further into memorable events during the holocaust, and I came across the Warsaw,Poland labor camp. As I was researching information about the camp, I realized that I wanted to focus on the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising because I found it more interesting. I have specifically learned that the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was a great part of the beginning of human rights during the holocaust. Also, I got to find out what happened to Jewish people in ghettos, and see what their lives were like when I found interviews of actual people that witnessed and lived in the ghetto during the Uprising.
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was a revolt against the Nazi's in the Warsaw,Poland ghetto. The suffering and hardship inside the ghettos lead up to the desire for and planning of a rebellion for demanding human rights through the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The Jewish members of the ghetto in Warsaw worked together to gather weapons to fight against the Nazi's and make an effort to be free out of the ghetto. Most of the people inside the Ghetto died of starvation or disease. The war between the Nazi's and the Polish Jews inside the Ghetto went on for about 8 days. Eventually all of the Jews were either killed, or sent to death camps. This rebellion resulted in many other ghettos near to fight for their human rights and fight against the Nazi's.

Warsaw,Poland Ghettos during the holocaust 1/13

I am researching the Warsaw,Poland ghettos during the holocaust. A "ghetto" was a small area that Jews were placed in by the nautzi's with limited amount of resources. Most ghettos were liquidated, and the Jew's were transferred to concentration camps. In Warsaw,Poland there was a famous uprising, or rebellion by the Jews. The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising is a historical moment in time that should be remembered because it was a part of starting the rights for freedom.
I started off with concentration camps, then narrowed down my topic into something more detailed. So I ended up with the Warsaw,Poland concentration camp. I studied the camp, and as I was researching my topic and I came across the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and I was very interested so I decided to go further into research on that certain topic. Some of my bibliographies are focused on a broader topic then my current topic, so this week I plan to correct them.

What would happen in a world where it was the child's choice to go to school? Would you go to school? 1/13

In a world where children could choose whether to go to school or not, the world would be very unintelligent. Being that a child is young, immature, and inexperienced in the world, the choice would be obvious. Children aren't going to know what is right and wrong, so when one has to wake up early and go do schoolwork, it isn't so appealing when you could be at home watching TV and sleeping late. Going to school is obviously the right thing to do, but most children aren't going to know that. So, when they actually realize that they need school to be successful it will be way later in life, so education will take a very long time.
In all honesty, I think I would choose to not go to school, and then later on realize that I need the education. Also, I feel like I would slack off on school a lot more, and choose to not go sometimes. A world where it is the child's choice to go to school, is not a world that I would want to live in. On the other hand, I think most parents would force their children to go to school like I know my mom would. Education is key to success and young children aren't going to realize that until later in life.
