Response 2 (8/26/13)
This past sunday I went to church with my friend Anna Stolzanthaler. I had a bunch of girls over to spend the night after a dance saturday, so she went to church with me the next day, while all the other girls slept in. During church, we have a time where we greet everyone and meet new people that have come into our church. During that time, a couple was talking to us about there family and life, and there daughter came up to us and asked how long we have been studying around the Lsu campus. I was excited that she thought we were older! When we told her we were freshman in highschool she was shocked, and we both had a great laugh.

I am currently reading Insurgent,
which is the sequel to the book that my class read for summer reading. My
personal question from our work in class last week is “what kind of genres do I
enjoy the most?” I have tried to branch out with many different genres, and I
can’t seem to find one that I love the most. I usually read books with lots of
drama and action in it because those kinds of books tend to keep me focused and
involved with the books plot. For example, Insurgent and Divergent
are filled with violence, love, conflict, competition, and bravery.
I have been thinking about reading The
List by Siobhan Vivian. My neighbor recommended this book to me. The genre
of this book is fiction. I also have noticed that I enjoy fiction books in
which the plot could never happen in the real world. Like, the main character
having some special power or characteristic about them. I am going to try to start reading nonfiction
books to see how I like them.

English 1, 2013-2014
I am hoping that this years english class is different, but the same as last years. Last year I was unfocused in class sometimes, I didn't ask a lot of questions, and I waited until the last minute to do my work. Also, I didn't take my writing serious enough. This year I am going to stay focused and try harder with my writing. I love to write because it feels different than talking to someone in person. I would rather think about what Im saying and write it down because I feel like I am expressing myself better than I would in person. I would like it to be the same, because I could usually always come to see Mrs. Milligan after class to understand what we did in class better if I didn't understand it at first.
I love the fact that we have blogs. I am starting to like my blog because I can put all my writing into one place where everything is organized and people will be able to see and help me improve. My overall goal for this years english class is to become a better writer. I seem to have writers block a lot. I want to break that habit as soon as possible and really express my words well. I am excited of what is to come in English 1.
Summer reading response
Divergent has become my favorite book. I stayed up many nights reading Divergent, and I could never put it down. I started reading the book at my friend Sophie's camp the same time she started it, and we would read together and discuss everything that was happening. It was also fun to see our reactions together. I liked this book because It is filled with action and mysteries. As I was reading, I got a thrill of sort of wanting to be dauntless because of all the dangerous, thrilling action and the things that they had to do on a daily basis that were life threatening.
I really got hooked on this book whenever Tris' aptitude test came out as divergent, which is very rare and dangerous. The mystery of not knowing what "divergent" meant kept me constantly reading and wanting to know more. I also liked how in the book many secrets kept unfolding. Also, reading about Tris' relationships with her friends and teachers excited me. My favorite part in the entire book was whenever Tris first jumped onto the moving train the day she chose dauntless, because it gave me an idea that things would definitely not be dull or boring at the dauntless chambers. I tend to read books with lots of drama in a way, and Divergent is defiantly an eye opener.
